Award-winning Das Boot Executive Producer Moritz Polter launched his own premium international scripted label with ITV Studios, based in Munich, this June. ITV Studios is a creator, producer and distributor of world leading programmes crafting over 8,400 hours of original programming across 13 countries.

Previously, as Executive Producer International Television Series at Bavaria Fiction, one of the most successful production companies in Europe, Moritz Polter led the creation, development and funding for international drama co-productions such as Das Boot (Sky), Arctic Circle (Elisa Viihde/ZDF) and Freud (Netflix/ORF).

Named among Variety’s Top 10 Global Creatives to Watch in 2018, award-winning Moritz Polter is currently executive producing and finalizing production of season 3 of Sky Studios’ critically acclaimed and award-winning high-end drama series Das Boot, starring Tom Wlaschiha, Ray Stevenson, Joana Ribeiro, Franz Dinda, Anna Schudt and many more. Season 3 is shot in 8k and with a Dolby Atmos soundscape. In addition to securing the financing of the series, Moritz has been heavily involved in all creative aspects of the series as non-writing showrunner. He selected the directors and all writers – developing scripts in English, French and German with the authors in the writers’ room from the very start. Moritz also chose the Head of Departments, having successfully worked with most of them on his previous projects. Moritz was a regular fixture on set working with the creative teams and cast to ensure a smooth-running and on-budget shoot. He worked together with the directors on the edit where he had the final cut. Sold to more than 100 territories worldwide, including Hulu in the US, Das Boot quickly became the most successful Sky original series ever for Sky Deutschland, as well as being the highest-rated launch of a non-Italian Sky original for Sky in Italy, and the most successful non-English Sky original series ever for Sky in the UK.

A Business, Media and Film Studies graduate of King Alfred’s College in Winchester and a true anglophile, Moritz Polter’s career has involved numerous creative collaborations in the UK. He was the producer of Tandem Productions’ drama Spotless, a Netflix Original in the UK, which was written by Ed McCardie, filmed in London and starred UK actors including Brendan Coyle, Miranda Raison and Liam Garrigan. He also produced Kate Mosse’s Labyrinth starring John Hurt, Tom Felton, Jessica Brown Findlay and Vanessa Kirby, and was Production Supervisor on Ken Follett’s Primetime Emmy winning and Golden Globe nominated miniseries Pillars of the Earth starring Eddie Redmayne, Ian McShane, Hayley Atwell, Matthew Macfadyen and Sarah Parish.

Moritz Polter is a regular jury member of the International Emmy Awards and Rockie Awards at Banff World Media Festival and a frequent speaker at industry events.
