Iginio Straffi is the founder and president of Rainbow Group, world-renowned animation studio with head offices located in the Italian region of Le Marche.
Iginio Straffi’s artistic career began very soon: his talent in drawing and writing comics stood out in his university years, when he was noticed by Milan’s prestigious comic book publisher Sergio Bonelli Editore and began to collaborate with it. Soon, his reputation as a talented cartoonist crossed national borders and was recognized by the TV and film industry, leading him to work for prestigious animation studios in France and Luxembourg. His breakthrough came in 1995, however, when he decided to return to Italy and establish a small animation studio in his native region, the Marches, to which he gave the name Rainbow.
Under Iginio’s visionary and innovative lead, Rainbow has grown rapidly to become one of the world’s leading entertainment players, a continually expanding group that can cover all segments of the entertainment business, boasting the production of a diversified content portfolio ranging from animation for children to live action and TV formats, TV movies and film productions, and that is constantly growing in the toys, multimedia products and publishing segments, ranking among the top 15 licensors in the annual world list.
Straffi is one of the most versatile creative minds on the world scene. He is behind the creation and direction of worldwide successes, first of all Winx Club, a brand among the most loved by girls that has turned into a globally recognized fashion phenomenon and boasts 15 years of presence and growth on the market. His world animation classic is flanked by the recent creation and distribution of the TV wonder series 44 Cats, a new property that is conquering children around the world. But Iginio Straffi is also behind successful properties such as Prezzy, Tommy&Oscar, Monster Allergy, PopPixie, Huntik, Mia and me, the 3D animated film Gladiators of Rome, Regal Academy, three animated Winx Club movies and the recent live action hits Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends and Club 57, the latter co-produced with Nickelodeon.
The natural disposition to face new challenges makes Iginio Straffi a born leader, always ready to undertake new collaborations and to look at new horizons. Year after year, Iginio Straffi has expanded the Rainbow family with strategic acquisitions, starting with the acquisition of Canadian studio Bardel Entertainment, which operates in animation for third parties, and Iven Group, which heads the film production company Colorado Film, thus expanding the offer and potential of Rainbow with Made in Italy TV and film products for adults and families.

Welcoming one challenge after another with enthusiasm, Iginio Straffi confirms every day the importance of Italian creativity in the world, dedicating his life to the creation of entertainment content of the highest quality and human value.
