Immagine di coppertina per Private Copying

Private Copying

Everyone can make a copy on blank phonographic (music) or audiovisual (feature films, cartoon, TV series, documentary etc.) support systems for a strictly personal use only.
Law of April 22nd 1941, Nr. 633 (the so-called Copyright Law) and its subsequent amendments state that authors, original producers, performers and their successor in title have the right to collect a remuneration for the private copying of their protected works. This compensation consists in a share of the retail price at the time of purchase of devices and blank support system. The share is periodically determined by Ministry of Heritage and Cultural Activities. The compensation is collected by SIAE (Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori) which takes care of distributing it to the rightholders also through the most representative trade associations. In the audiovisual field, the compensation for private copying is allocated for 30% to authors and for 70% in three equal parts to original producers of audiovisual works, videogram producers and performers and artists.

As a result of the wide representation of the Italian audiovisual production industry, APA was entrusted by the Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori (SIAE) with the task of distributing the share of compensation for the private reproduction of videograms to the original producers of audiovisual works intended for TV broadcasting and for their successors in title (video private copying compensation).
