Fabrizio Zappi

Fabrizio Zappi is currently working in Rai Fiction (RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana Drama Department), as Deputy Director in charge of the editorial content for TV movies, miniseries and docudramas, reporting directly to Rai Fiction Director (Ms. Maria Pia Ammirati).

Until 2016, he was Commissioning Editor for RAI Fiction and previously, from 1999 to 2005, Story Editor.

He Worked in the RAI TV Drama and Series Department, initially he gained practical experience in script analysis and development, afterwards he analyzed and selected projects based on their compatibility with International markets and contributed to the development of these ideas and scripts as story editor.

His career has started in Fandango Film Production, as intern.

He then became Domenico Procacci’s assistant. He was Fandango’s owner, and Fabrizio helped him develop his company’s projects, both feature films and TV series. He carefully selected the scripts worthy of his consideration, met the screenwriters and handled all the paperwork in order to obtain the funding. He managed the relationships with Fandango’s distributors, monitoring every aspect of the contracts. He also managed the contractual issues of all International co-productions, as well as all the promotional and festival activity. He also contributed to Luciano Ligabue and Gabriele Muccino’s debut, by following Radio Freccia and Ecco Fatto production and post-production and also closely followed Tre per Sempre, La Stanza dello Scirocco, Le Mani Forti, War Zone, Guiltrip, Le Monde à l’Envers, La Patinoire through all the production steps.

Before, Fabrizio was Buyer at Cannes Film Festival: he selected the movies, negotiated with the sales agents. In particular, he followed the Italian rights in the acquisition of Drifting Clouds by A. Kaurismaki and Trees Lounge by S. Buscemi.

Since 1998, he has been teaching Master courses in Media and Communication at the Universities of Rome, Milan, Turin and Florence. In particular, I am a lecturer and a host professor for the Master in International Screenwriting and Production for Cinema and Television at Università Cattolica in Milan.
